Apollo Beta was released some hours ago, and I ported some jin'sync apps to run on AIR before I went to bed:
Download http://www.jinsync.com/files/gmail.air -- Gmail.app, now on Apollo!

Also try http://www.jinsync.com/files/30b.air
(Need to adobe/go/getapollo first?)

i cannot install the .air file!
Cool but I wish it was more like an application and less like a web browser... from the looks of it, it's just using Apollo's web browser (WebKit I believe) to load gmail's site...it could be any site for that matter.
Like other people said, you don't have scrolling with mouse wheel either.
Actionscript3 can actually connect to servers in many different ways now. You can more than likely do away with Google's interface all together to read your mail AND possibly even use their chat system. I was hoping for something more robust like that with a fancier interface.
You could at least replace the default system application window bar and max/min icons. Or maybe add some neat transparency effect or something when you're not on focus or while you're dragging or just something.
Great start though, just push it.
- Scrolling with the Mouse Wheel would be cool...
- HTML Combo Boxes don't work. Is certainly an apollo alpha webkit issue
btw: cool idea, actually useful
Apollo Gmail.app todo:
- Fix copy/paste
- Better window sizing and positioning
- Investigate offline support
- Add a location bar and other chrome
- Improve compose window line-wrapping
Anything else?

Sending messages seems to be broken too -- d'oh :(
